What is the point of the Catholic candle?

In the early days of the church, many church services were held at night, and candles were used mainly for lighting. Now, electric lamp to become common, no longer use candles as lighting supplies. Now to give the candle another layer of meaning.

Generally in the offering of Jesus in the temple ceremony, there will be a candle blessing ceremony; Candlemas: Eight days after the birth of Jesus, when he went to the temple to be circumcised, a righteous man named Simion was revealed by the Holy Spirit to know that the child was the blessed one of God.
